Custom front-lit At Fault bar signage designed for a high-energy indoor pickleball venue in Dallas, Texas.

(About Project)

At Fault in Dallas was conceived as a social-first indoor pickleball venue — part sport, part nightlife, part spectacle. The interior is intentionally kinetic: bold patterns, constant motion, overlapping sightlines that mirror the pace of play on the courts. The brief was a full venue signage system that could hold its own in a loud, fast-moving environment while still guiding guests effortlessly through the space. Energetic without becoming chaotic. Visible without adding friction. That was the signage challenge.

(Result)

The restaurant and venue signage gives At Fault a clear and confident physical identity in Dallas. From highway visibility to in-venue navigation, the signage system supports movement, flow, and social energy without overpowering the space itself. A venue that feels alive, energetic, and easy to navigate.

(Signage Insights)

Venue signage for entertainment and hospitality spaces operates differently from retail or clinical signage. The environment is loud and competitive for attention; guests are moving, socialising, and navigating simultaneously. Signage needs to perform at multiple scales.

Exterior highway-visible signage. At Fault's location near a major Dallas road made large-scale LED frontlit signs a priority. Front-lit signs deliver strong daytime and evening visibility and hold up well in outdoor conditions. Scale matters: a sign designed for highway viewing needs to be substantially larger than one designed for pedestrian traffic.

Bar signage as a spatial landmark. In a multi-zone venue, the front-lit bar sign functions as a wayfinding anchor as much as a brand element. Guests navigating the space orient themselves by the bar — a well-placed, well-scaled illuminated bar sign becomes the focal point that organises the room.

Permitting for large venue signage. Large-scale exterior signs in Texas require permits, and the process varies by city and municipality. At Fault's exterior program included full permitting support from Neon Studio — a service we recommend including in scope from the start of any exterior signage project.

Neon Studio designs custom restaurant, bar, and venue signage across the US and Canada, including full permitting support. See more at neonstudio.co/restaurant-cafe-signage.
